Ground Stabilisation

In ground stabilisation applications, the use of geosynthetics reduce the overall construction depth, saving on materials and excavation and providing safe working platforms which meet economic and environmental constraints.

In applications such as roads and other trafficked areas including car parks, railways, airports and docks, geosynthetics are used to reinforce unbound granular layers.


TERRAM Geotextiles are an effective solution for the construction of stable granular layers over soft foundation soils. Placed between the stone layer and the soft sub-grade, TERRAM geotextiles prevent intermixing of the two layers caused by imposed loading, which would ordinarily result in the contamination of the stone layer and the loss in bearing strength, giving surface rutting and deformation at the sub-base/sub-grade interface.

Load Support

TERRAM Geocell systems provide a stable base for paved surfaces and surface stabilisation for unpaved areas thus solving many load support and tree root protection problems.

When filled with sands or granular fills, the cellular structure performs as a semi-rigid 'slab' distributing loads laterally, stabilising base materials, reducing sub grade contact pressures and minimising surface rutting. It also prevents the lateral displacement of infill and reduces vertical deflections even on low-strength sub grades.

Plastic Porous Paving

TERRAM Porous pavers provide a free draining, reinforced, SUDS source control compliant pavement, engineered to offer high load bearing capacities to deal with all types of traffic and frequency of use. 

TERRAM Porous Pavers are filled with permeable materials, such as either gravel, or a rootzone for a grassed surface.

Grass Mesh / Engineered Turf

TERRAM provide several solutions for naturally draining, reinforced and stabilised grassed surfaces which are suitable for all types of traffic depending on the intensity of use. 

TERRAM GrassProtecta™ is a plastic grass reinforcement mesh solution which is installed directly onto the existing grass surfaces, allowing the grass sward to grow through the mesh apertures and the grass roots to intertwine with the plastic mesh. This market leading solution creates a reinforced based for the roots, protection from wear and, ultimately, a grassed surface that is capable of resisting a level of rutting and deformation caused by traffic.
